Every week, I will post a new topic related to what we are studying in class or related to a film we are studying. The picture above is the character Scarlett O'Hara from one of my favorite films of all time, Gone With The Wind. It was made in the 1930's and is no longer considered politically correct and does a less than accurate job of portraying slavery and many aspects of the Civil War. However, there is no character quite like Scarlett O'Hara. Scarlett is a woman who knows what she wants and is fiercely protective of her family. She will do anything necessary to protect what is hers; a strong, independent woman way before her time. Yes she is ruthless and conniving and has dubious morals but she never loses sight of who she is and what she is trying to protect. She is one of my all time favorite heroines and is why I will always count this movie as one of my favorites. What is your favorite film? Why? It can be anything from your childhood or any movie that speaks to you and you remember.
